Birds & Beans (Bright orange, transparent, butterscotch, toffee)

GEMS130

“We see a lot more birds now in the farm because of the diverse shade & boundary trees. This chirping fills our hearts with joy even during the mid-day heat!”

Lakkey Rameshbabu and Neelaveni embarked on their coffee journey with Naandi in 2012. Before turning to coffee, the duo cultivated millets which yielded meagre returns. Back in the day, their farm had no shade trees or composting, and the soil lacked nutrition.

Over the years, they have added diverse fruit and forest trees such as Lemon, Custard apple, Guava, Jackfruit, and Gliricidia to the coffee farm. With regular mulching and composting, soil fertility was slowly restored. A testament to their hard work has come in the form of Gems130 – a transparent coffee with cupping notes of bright orange, butterscotch and toffee.

Coffee, for Ramesh and Neelaveni, is not only a harbinger of economic stability but also generates pride as they create their own garden of Eden.
